Weather is constantly changing and is the state of the atmosphere.
It can also be referred to as meterorology. Which is the study of
the earth's atmosphere. Scientists use all different kinds of instruments
to measure different types of weather. Each and every instrument has
there own way of functioning and the units measured. Below will be some
examples of different instruments that are used.

A common instrument that is used to measure weather is the thermometer. The thermometer is used to measure the temperature or temperature gradient. The thermometer has two important elements. There are two kinds of thermometers, primary and secondary. Thermometers measure in farenheit and degrees celcius. More information can be found here. Image found.
Another instrument is a Barometer. A Barometer measures air pressure. It can measure the pressure excerted by the atmosphere by using water or air. It is measured in MBARS (millibars). It works by balancing a weight of mercury against the atmospheric pressure just like two weights. If the atmopheric pressure weighs more, it rises, and when it weighs less it falls.More information can be found here.

An instrument used to measure wind speed is a Anemometer. The Anemometer first started out only having three cups but know it consists of either three or four cup devices. When the wind blows, each cup catches a certain amount of air that causes them to spin around. The Anemometer measures in miles per hour, kilometers per hour and knots.Image found here.

Humidity is measured with a phychrometer. It has two bulbs, a dry one and a wet one with a rag. The wet bulb is used to measure how humid the air is and the dry one measures the temperature in the air. This is measured in MBAR.More information.

A rain gauge is measures in inches and collects the amount of rain that has fallen in a certain area. It measures rain and how much of it has fallen.More information.

A hydrometer is used to measure relative density or specific gravity of liquids. That is the ratio of the density of the liquid to the density of water. It is measured in grams.Image found here.
